In Memory of BFSkinner / CameronProf [1]

He’s been gone awhile. And I think about him now and then. Glad he was spared Trump’s re-election, glad he doesn’t have to worry about idiot DOGE making his life impossible.
He used to make our lives a little more bearable, with icebreaker diaries that asked interesting questions and invited us to answer them. Favorite song. Favorite film. Gentle, kind stuff. From a gentle, kind person who is sorely missed.

So on Sunday night I was listening to The Professor of Rock on YouTube, and started thinking about a game I used to play with my college sweetheart way, way, way back in the day [appropriate because of the time period The Professor was visiting at the moment].
We’d invent band names.
Now, this was the era of Tangerine Dream and Pink Floyd and Grand Funk Railroad, so you had to stretch a bit to come up with something novel.
The only one that I remember now was one of his: Werner’s Heisenburgers. They were a rock polka band. At least, people thought they were; it was uncertain. You could never be sure where they’d be playing. And when you tried to listen closely to their music, it had a tendency to fade out.
I remember us having hysterics trying to figure out what rock polka would sound like… innocent youth, Lord do I miss it.
Anyway. Thought we could use some light distraction for a change. So here are a few offerings to start the ball rolling maybe. Real band names are welcome, as long as they’re offbeat. These, as far as I know, are imaginary. Do include the genre of music, as that’s half the fun.

Subduction Zone — really really heavy metal, but it tends to bring you down
Daffy-down-dilly — English folk music parodies
Bratatouille — French gypsy punk
While I’m at it, just in case anyone thinks there is no such thing as gypsy punk… with violins AND ACCORDIONS…
