All You Had To Do Was Put an X Beside Her Name [1]

There were two things that caught my eye today as I was taking strolls through BlueSky and Daily Kos.
The first was a diary posted to Daily Kos by the prolific and brilliant MurielVieux titled "Are We There Yet?". The diary lists a series of illegal, corrupt and authoritarian actions taken by Trump in the first three months of his administration and the impact they've had. It's a terrifying read.

The second, a post to BlueSky by Kamala Harris wishing Americans a Happy Easter.
x On Easter Sunday, we celebrate joy, hope, and our faith in renewal — even through the darkest of times. To all those celebrating today, our family wishes you a happy Easter. — Kamala Harris (@kamalaharris.com) 2025-04-20T18:34:33.092Z
Americans had a choice in November. It should have been a very simple one.
On the one hand, Americans had a nice, smart, capable, compassionate Black woman who values family. One who can wish people a happy Easter without attaching an airing of grievances.
On the other hand, Americans had a White man the Courts convicted of Fraud, who the Courts declared had committed sexual assault, who was motivated by revenge, hate, misogyny, racism and transphobia and driven by the certainty one finds only in those possessing profound ignorance.
In the aftermath of the election, I've read a host of posts detailing the reasons Kamala Harris lost. I've read claims that Democrats lost because the Party is too centrist, that Democrats lost because they are too progressive, that Democrats lost because they are beholden to rich donors, and that Democrats lost because they are beholden to "culture wars" and "identity politics".
And honestly? Fuck all that noise, because six months later that is all it is.
American voters had a simple choice in November. Kamala Harris told the country in direct terms what that choice was. Democrats across the country outlined the stark choice on their ballots.
Hell, even Donald Trump told Americans in rally after rally exactly what he was going to do.
An honest, accomplished, compassionate Black woman was on the ballot. She was right there.
All you had to do was put on X beside her name and none of the things Muriel listed in her diary would be happenning today.
