More Trump lies to smear Kilmar - new knuckle pics, and about that hat and hoodie [1]

They couldn't stop the judge. Trump stupidly tried a badly done knuckle photo to prove he was a MS-13 gang member. The right tried to make something of Van Hollen and Garcia having margheritas that weren't there. Garcia had to be a gang member or we'll have a hissy fit!
Trump is the criminal in this case.
So, the Trump administration dug up all the old police reports that never proved anything besides he had a funky hat on once.
Karoline Leavitt could easily be sued by Garcia for defamation by calling him a gang member and an "apparent woman beater."
The reports included the 2019 arrest that didn't lead to charges but got him held by immigration officials and then released. There was also protective order by his wife that never went anywhere because they worked things out.
The 2019 arrest in a Home Depot parking lot was detailed on a "gang field interview sheet." Bondi released that on Wednesday. Garcia was there with three other men It doesn't say if Garcia was one of them, but two men tossed plastic vials of marijuana under a parked vehicle. Pot has been legal in Maryland since July 1, 2023. Illegal then. They were all taken to a police station. One, a detective noted, was a known MS-13 gang member, and another had skull tattoos covering his eyes ears and mouth. That sounds really weird.
Garcia was wearing a Chicago Bulls cap and had a hoodie emblazoned with presidents having rolls of money over the eyes, ears, and mouth. This is what referenced him as a gang member. Not tattoos, no gun, just a hoodie. An unnamed informant said that Kilmar "is an active member of MS-13 with the Westerns clique." That's called hearsay evidence. Not admissible in court.
There was a Homeland Security document produced later which said that Garcia had no criminal history. He was carrying $1178 when he was picked up. The document goes on to say that Kilmar and one of the other men were detained "in connection with a murder investigation." But, there's no additional information regarding the investigation. Or how either one of them was identified as having anything to do with it.
Kilmar's wife says, "Kilmar is not, and never has been a gang member. I'm certain of that."
The government came up with all sorts of stuff which didn't amount to anything in his hearing before an immigration judge. The judge found Garcia credible and granted withholding of removal, meaning he couldn't be sent to El Salvador because of fear of persecution. The government didn't appeal.
The 2021 protective order, we've already gone over. His wife never followed through. The last thing was a 2022 traffic stop for speeding. There were several men in the car along with Garcia, but somehow because there wasn't any luggage in the car, Homeland Security decided this was human trafficking. Making it up.
On the DHS website, is a page describing "DHS Releases Bombshell Investigative Report on Kilmar Abrego Garcia Suspected Human Trafficking Incident." Dated April 18.
Here's the actual report, dated April 17, 2025. on which the above report is based. Garcia was driving and there were 8 other guys in the car with him. He said they were all going to a construction site and it was his boss's car. There's no mention at all of what type of vehicle it was. That's very strange. No license number of the vehicle. So this is something that Homeland Security generated just to backup the article. It's not the actual report from 2022.
The article says right off the bat that Garcia was suspected of human trafficking, and that he had been confirmed as being a member of MS-13, when that was not the case at all. It was an unknown informant. Hearsay. In regards to his deportation case, it doesn't matter at all because he hasn't been accused of, or convicted of any crime.
It should be noted that the April 17th document says on it "for official use only."
"Kilmar Abrego Garcia is in a MS-13 gang member, illegal alien from El Salvador, and suspected human trafficker. The facts revealed that he was pulled over with eight individuals in a car in an admitted 3-day journey from Texas to Maryland with no luggage. The facts speak for themselves, and they reek of human trafficking. The media's sympathetic narrative about this illegal criminal gang member has completely fallen apart. We hear far too much about gang members and criminals false sob stories and not enough about their victims," said DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin.
Kilmar was driving with an expired driver's license. That's it, and the speeding. This human trafficking assumption has no basis in fact other than there were a lot of guys in the vehicle. Again, what type of vehicle? We don't know. Could have been a big SUV. Could have been a bus. If there was some sort of assumption of human trafficking, why weren't all of them hauled in? This is drawing a conclusion years later to fit the narrative that the government wants to have.
In an NBC News report, they add on to the hearsay evidence that the officers consulted with a reliable confidential source who "advised that [Abrego Garcia] is the rank of 'Chequeo' with the moniker of 'Chele' in the gang."
I found the original Prince George's County Police Department Gang Field Interview Sheet (PDF), and it does have those details about the gang claims against Kilmar. Under "Gang Criteria," checked are Dress, Arrested aloneOr, ReliableSource, AffiliatesGang, FrequentsGangArea. Tattoos is not checked.
"Wearing the Chicago Bulls cap represents that they are a member in good standing with MS-13."
An NPR reporter says he's seen Bulls caps worn by people all over the world. In Sarajevo as bombs were dropping, in Paris, Beijing, Tel Aviv and Baghdad. His take after seeing Kilmar in the meeting with Van Hollen wearing a Kansas City Chiefs hat, is that sometimes a hat is just a hat.
I tried to find anyone, anywhere that said a Bulls cap had anything to do with gang affiliation, and I only came up with Fox News Jesse Waters. On the hoodie description, I tried a bunch of ways and came up short. There may be a logic to the claim, but nobody else, or text, on the internet, knows anything about it.
I looked up MS-13 tattoos and found nothing that matched the one's that were seen in a picture with his baby or the badly presented Trump photo. I found only one tattoo picture of a gang member that actually put a no mistaking about it, MS13, on his knuckles.
Here's still another shot of Kilmar's hand and you can see the marijuana leaf, smile face with the x's for eyes, the cross covered by the wedding ring, and the skull on the pinkie.
And a closeup of same.
Does it mean anything? Nope.
He entered the country illegally in 2011, running from a different gang in El Salvador. He's married to a U.S. citizen. Those are the facts.
This guy put together 25 facts with annotations if you need any more detail on the whole scenario.
New York Times has an article on a guy deported because of an administrative error in Trump's first term, but they got him back.
Republicans just can't leave things alone. Rep. Mike Collins thought he was being cute by replacing Van Hollen's office plaque by the door. What a sore loser. Just like Trump.
It's judges vs. Trump again. I'll bet Trump would lose in an arm wrestle. But there's nothing funny about what Kilmar Garcia is going through. Bring him back or it's contempt of court. Then we find out who the U.S. Marshals obey first.
