Grift in the making? 2025 White House Easter Egg Roll, sponsored by billionaires, benefiting...? [1]

As reported by CNN and NPR, this year’s White House Easter Egg Roll will, for the first time, be sponsored. The sponsorships range from $75,000 to $200,000 -rather out of the range of the average John Doe or Mary Roe. It will, however, enable a cast of multi-millionaires and billionaires to snuggle up to Trump and kin, and to flash their personalities and brands before the public yet again. Funds are to go to the White House Historical Association, which is a long-standing and upstanding NGO dedicated to the history and preservation of the White House and its artifacts. The event is being set up to “...provide financial support, activities, and giveaways to enhance the event while gaining valuable brand visibility and national recognition....” (italics added)
While, at first blush, this sponsorship seems innocent enough, the commercialization to benefit the sponsors is obvious, and violates long-standing regulations within the federal government against endorsement of commercial products or brands or personal profit. And, potentially worse, while the directorship and management of the Association are currently not associated with the Trump Family, President Trump has recently adopted the practice of assuming control of government-connected nonprofits (for example, his personal takeover of the Kennedy Center and the DOGE takeover of the Peace Institute). The question is, will force the White House Historical Association to replace the directors with family members, and assume the chair and/or himself? Notably, the Association manages two trusts holding over $60 million in net assets: the White House Acquisition Trust and the White House Endowment Trust.
And once Trump is heading up the organization, for what, to where and to whom will that and this recent infusion of additional megabucks be funneled?
