How Harvard U can kneecap Trump's steps. 'Having the cake and eat it too'
By now, it boils down to:
Trump charges Harvard is antisemitic (to reporters 4.17.25) and Harvard's position: it's not about that.
But Harvard could still have the 2B for its work and winning.
ANTI-JEWISH BIGOTRY
Let's face it. Antisemitism [term coined in Europe, referring exclusively to hatred towards Jews. Not all Semites] is real. The bigotry against anything linked to Jews/Judaism is an ancient intolerance. It's a default - blind bigotry. Only, that in every generation, it is covered by an 'adjusted' mask - updated/ suited to timely events.
Even contradiction are 'OK' when it comes to antisemitism. Jews who supported one way, were attacked by the other, then again, even persecuted by those carrying the very same flag, still, Jews who weren't involvednat all, were attacked anyway.
Modern anti-Semitism includes also un-Jewing a Jew/s, in order to keep a "license" to hate.
The story of Purim. The book of Esther is classic. Haman has a personal grudge with Mordecai who refused to bow to him. But as soon as he found out that he is a Jew Esther 3:6, then all Jews need be --he said-- annihilated.
This repeats throughout history.
Countless 'personal' grudges, or/and sheer jealousy led to so many tragedies. Murderous Cody Balmer who attacked Josh Shapiro because of what other Jews, far away, do, which Cody criticizes, is that too. And of course the timing: hours after Seder.
Needless to say: Of course criticizing actions taken, behaviors by Netanyahu is NOT Anti-Semitism. But it's real in many activism too. Not all.
HARVARD
So here is the idea for Harvard U.
Declare that you take 'new' steps to ensure all students feel safe. Curtail hate symbolism and rhetoric. But refuse all the other demands in the 'package' Trump demands.
This, will gather support, in courts and in the court of public opinion.
