Good luck with tomatoes [1]

I see the orange turd has seen fit to place a 21% tariff on Mexican tomatoes. As Claudia Sheinbaum said in this morning’s mañanera, “We have seen this kind of thing many times before.”
I decided to see what consumers are paying 150 miles away on the other side of the border. For reference, I took the headline photo yesterday. Translated into US price, those tomatoes cost USD 27 CENTS per pound. Yes that’s right. This is the typical price we pay.
I checked TX prices in San Antonio where HEB is the biggest supermarket outlet. $1.39 per pound.
So, right now, tomatoes in Texas cost more than five times as much as tomatoes in Nuevo Leon. And you’re going to get 21% on top of that.
I’d say that you should investigate the predatory pricing of US outlets before bashing your consumers with even more tax.
