A Hero for America, Fighting Back [1]

Talk about going the extra mile for a constituent! In this case, to a realm of world-class incarceration overkill. This week, WAY down yonder in El Salvador, veep Felix Ulloa effectively told US Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) to go pound sand.
That is to say Van Hollen could not see, visit, or converse by phone with the deported, dumped, and disappeared Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Ulloa also claimed that nothing could be done re that admitted error on the part of the Trump team. Syllogistically mansplaining, he went so far as to smarm that his hands were tied because “The Trump administration is paying El Salvador… to keep [Garcia]” at the ‘abandon all hope’ megaprison, CECOT.
From that, at least three questions arise. One, how much is the administration paying? Two, how have the funds been authorized (if at all)? Three, has Trump chum Nayib Bukele (Ulloa’s boss) somehow wangled a blank check going forward?
It looks to get even worse. Trump exhorts Bukele to “build about five more” CECOT-like hellholes. That would potentially comprise space for some 200,000 more officially legal US residents (viz Garcia)- and/or (brace yourself) American citizens who somehow may have run afoul of Trump’s druthers. Or who may have become victims of administrative error. Or what have you.
And now for the good news. Credit where due: Van Hollen marshals the spine to observe “the Trump administration is lying about Garcia.” Plus, anger at the grossly un-American deceit and tyranny in play now looks to be spreading- to the point of becoming (of all things) BIPARTISAN.
Check it out. At 91(!), Van Hollen’s peer Chuck Grassley (R-IA) looks perplexed with and peeved at some unexpectedly unfriendly town hall hollerers. So, nonagenarian or no, he tries to get in-your-face with them- to the point of standing firmly as ever for Trumpy dogma.
Sorry, Chuck! In no uncertain terms, even with some wearing red hats, they tell HIM to go pound sand!
Amen for them. (Question: could they serve as role models for incorrigibly pliant, limp, squishy Dems?)
Going forward, let’s not fail to salute some irony of Biblical proportions. Voila: the first Gospel. On behalf of those in prison (perhaps for good reason, let alone such an innocent as Garcia), Matthew 25 invokes and demands (on penalty of “eternal fire”) EXACTLY what Van Hollen strove to do.
Namely, to “visit.”
Let’s wish him Godspeed. And refuse to keep mum re the liberty and justice fragging forces who so self-righteously foist cruel, heedless, indecent fake Christian nationalism. (Aside to them: are you frigging kidding me?)
