Tesla has already been hit with falling sales, with Cybertrucks piling up unsold. The stock is tanking with Business Insider saying it's flashing a "Death Cross." Read the article for an explanation.
Then an internal analysis at Tesla found that the Robotaxi would lose money.
Now you've got a lawsuit by a guy who's got the goods to back up his claim that the odometer readings were way off against his actual driving. It's a class action lawsuit. The more the merrier.
The lead plaintiff, Nyree Hinton, drives 20 miles back and forth to work each day, but the odometer said 72 miles.
This caused his used car to go past the 50,000 mile mark and lost him the suspension repair coverage that cost him $10,000.
According to this law firm site, the federal law against odometer tampering is cumulative. And the penalty is up to $250,000 and 3 years in a federal prison. Damn! There's a way to get rid of Musk permanently. At 7.2 million cars sold, Musk will be in jail for 21.6 million years and Tesla will be bankrupt.
"The lawsuit claims that instead of measuring physical distance, Tesla odometers estimate mileage based on energy consumption and driver behavior, which inflates the numbers, so Tesla saves money on repairs and raises revenue from other sources."
There is no other legal way to move an odometer except by wheel rotations knowing the tire size. That's it. Anything else is illegal. Having software controlling a car makes this possible in cars now as opposed to the old mechanical odometers, where jimmying the odometer digit wheels would show wheel misalignment. This is far more sinister because it shows intent on every Tesla made.
Can they claim it was just an algorithm problem? No. There's nothing to do but count the wheel rotations.
This lawsuit will do wonders for Tesla stock already facing the "Death Cross."
Besides the law against odometer tampering, there's also fraud for getting out of repair coverage.
There's also a lawsuit for Tesla's inflated charge and range claims.
If this works out, Tesla Takedowns may no longer be necessary.
