..that the people over whom Trump is paving his path to authoritarianism belong to precisely those groups whom liberals are too feckless to defend?

Who has Trump targeted? Trans people, immigrants accused of crimes, and drug users and drug dealers. You know, the folks liberals nominate for under-the-bus treatment after every election loss, with the hope by sacrificing them, that the rights of better people — namely, themselves — might be defended.

It’s almost like liberalism is an elitist, authoritarian ideology that normal people reflexively hate.
