In every chapter of history, there are people who step up—not because it’s easy, but because it’s right.

After my mother passed away, I realized the depth of support my sister and her children needed. I stepped in—not out of obligation, but out of love and a deep understanding of what it means to grow up without a safety net. After my mother passed away, I realized the depth of support my sister and her children needed. I stepped in—not out of obligation, but out of love and a deep understanding of what it means to grow up without a safety net.

I was raised by a mother with intellectual disabilities and a father who also lived with disabilities. He wasn’t absent out of neglect—he was absent because of the deep trauma he carried, shaped by experiences that made it hard for him to show up in the ways I needed. I hold no hate in my heart for that. Only understanding.

When a fire destroyed the home I built for my family, I didn’t break—I rebuilt. Brick by brick, I restored more than just a house. I restored hope, stability, and a foundation that could carry generations forward.

So when life called on me to raise four of my sister’s children, I answered with everything I had. Because I’ve lived the struggle. I’ve weathered the storm. And I stand tall—not just for them, but for every family trying to hold on and build something better.

This journey shaped me. It’s why I lead. It’s why I fight. It’s why I’ll never stop standing up for those who’ve been counted out.
