Well, *This* Is Interesting. And Might Be Useful. Re Sr. Garcia's Ordeal - and Possible Rescue. [1]

Then again, it might not. This is way outside my wheelhouse, and may already have been mentioned here a gazillion times, but just in case it hasn’t been:
1. El Salvador is apparently STILL a party to the Rome Statute, which means it is a member of, and at least theoretically under the jurisdiction of, the International Criminal Court.
2. Yes I know we aren’t, and yes I know poor Sr. Garcia isn’t, nor are any members of his family here in the States.
3. But it is just remotely possible that an NGO like Amnesty International, which is headquartered in the UK [which is ALSO a party to the Rome Statute], might be able to look into the situation and have some leverage.
[Note that qualifier “might”. It’s doing a lot of heavy lifting here. I truly have no idea if anything is feasible, and if so, what might be. But others hopefully will.]

OK. I’m not interested in quarreling about any aspect of this.
I’m no expert in this area, merely another person who gives a damn. So, am putting the info out where people will see it, just in case it has any earthly use whatsoever and could help get that poor man out of the hellhole he is in. Him and God knows how many others.
