Saw Bernie and AOC yesterday in Folsom; it was salve to my wounded spirit [1]

It was a beautiful northern California spring day, and the energy was awesome. Bernie and AOC didnt dissapoint, putting in local issues into their speeches; Bernie is so effective and AOC is very gifted. The crowd was ready and had a decent mix of older and younger, but still more of us oldsters. Their numbers said 26000, I think the day after counts from officials may be a bit smaller, but it was hard to tell because so many people were on the outside, circling the field, listening and watching thru fences and the parking lot.

i drove by the entrance at 12:30 and there was already a line 3 blocks long, with the gate not opening until 330. I went to eat and park, walked to the line at 2 and the line was now maybe 8 blocks long, and that line got longer and longer. There was a brilliant entrepreneur with a bike with a 6 person trailer, taking people to the end of the line, he was making bank!

While waiting in line there was one trump pick up truck that rolled past us a couple of time, and inside the field there was a plane with a trailing sign of “folsom is trump country”. the only assholes were a bunch of trump flagged trucks and cars in the nearby shoppinig/restaurant center parking lot, where a lot of us parked, purposely jamming the main driving lanes to make getting out harder and some guy started challenging them — I didnt stay to see the outcome.

It was well worth having to work the weekend to play hooky and listen to 2 of our brightest lights in this dark dark place we are in right now. And the crowds were so ready for it. I actually teared up and the crowd around me really reacted when at one moment we were chanting “ Bernie, Bernie” and he said “no, not bernie, YOU” — that was some real feel coming from a real place and a real warrior who has spent his whole life fighting for the greater good.
