Good evening everyone! I have a bit of a hodge podge of news tonight…
Breaking news...
x NEW VIDEO: Federal Judge James Boasberg has found probable cause to hold the Trump administration in contempt of court for showing “a willful disregard” toward his March 15 orders requiring it return hundreds of migrants it sent to a notorious prison in El Salvador. Paige and I explain.

This is a fantastic interview. It is 35 minutes but well worth your time when you get a minute
x Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and I discuss the ongoing influence of dark money in the courts, how the Trump administration is tearing apart the Justice Department and Elon Musk-led threats against judges. youtu.be/bpUSPPzHa0k

The job going forward is obviously to try and undo the damage. I’m impressed with Senator Whitehouse.

Justice takes so long. I’m hoping by zeroing in on who did what, the judge will determine who needs to be held in contempt in this case. I want it to be noem and miller. Please sit them in a jail cell until ALL of the wrongfully detained prisoners are returned including Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
✂ Anna Bower, Roger Parloff, and Ben Wittes of Lawfare watched the hearing and explained that Judge Xinis is now building the evidence to determine whether individuals in the administration have acted in contempt of court. The court ordered the administration to facilitate Abrego Garcia’s return to the U.S., as well as to give updates on what they are doing to make that return happen. To date, Judge Xinis said, “what the record shows is nothing has been done.” She dismissed the administration lawyer’s argument that yesterday’s Oval Office meeting between President Donald Trump and president of El Salvador Nayib Bukele was part of the effort to “facilitate” the case. As Bower said, we all know what’s going on, but it’s impossible right now to know which individual is responsible for the stonewalling. For that matter, Bower added, those speaking for the administration usually deny personal knowledge of the case, simply saying they have been made aware of the facts they are representing. Judge Xinis called for two weeks of fact finding to determine if the Trump regime is following her orders that it facilitate his return. The judge told Abrego Garcia’s lawyers that they may conduct four depositions and apply for two more, make up to 15 document requests, and up to 15 interrogatories (these are lists of written questions that must be answered under oath and in writing). Xinis noted that “every day Mr. Garcia is detained in CECOT is a day of irreparable harm.” ✂

This is encouraging. I love to see the actions of the democrats. I wish it was more widely reported.
✂ While Trump has stacked his cabinet with out-of-touch billionaires, we’ve launched a People’s Cabinet, which is made up of experts, leaders, and community voices around the country who will cut through the lies to bring you reliable and accurate information. We’ve also launched a new DNC War Room to put Republicans on the defense every single day, compete in new information spaces, and proactively challenge what Trump is doing. And third, we’re focused on organizing everywhere. I’ve said from Day One that if we organize everywhere, we can win everywhere. And that’s exactly what we’ve done. Democrats have overperformed in 17 of the 18 elections this year, with big wins in places like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. ✂

✂ Former President Joe Biden returned yesterday for his first big speech since leaving office. Biden slammed Trump, saying in less than 100 days, his administration “has done so much damage, and so much destruction.” Biden then tore into Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, saying he “doesn’t seem to get it.” Referring to Lutnick’s dismissive comment that his mother-in-law wouldn’t complain about missed Social Security checks, Biden said: “No kidding, her son-in-law’s a billionaire.” Joe railed on Elon Musk for lying about Social Security, stating: “A Ponzi scheme? What the hell are they talking about? People earned these benefits ... And no one, no one, no one should take it away.” Biden also laid into the GOP, saying they are “willing to hurt the middle class, and the working class, in order to deliver significant greater wealth to the already very wealthy. Who in the hell do they think they are?” In classic Joe Biden fashion, he ended on a heartfelt note: “Social Security is about more than retirement accounts. It’s about honoring a fundamental trust between government and people. It’s about peace of mind ... It’s about who we are as Americans … Nobody’s king … Everybody has a shot.” ✂
Joe was in Chicago yesterday giving the keynote address to the national conference of Advocates, Counselors and Representatives for the Disabled in an effort to rally bipartisan support for Social Security.

x Republicans are trying to steal an election in North Carolina. They have been laying the groundwork for five months, and unless the federal courts intervene, they just might succeed. If they do, it could usher in a new era of election subversion in future contests across the country.

This is a nail biter. Not because the truth is in question, but because based on how this turns out our ability to take back our government through free and fair elections is in doubt. Under normal circumstances, we have this. With the takeover of the courts, who knows?
I couldn’t be happier that Marc Elias is on our side!

✂ For anyone asking, ‘why were they there?’ AOC said: “I’ll give you one simple answer: It’s because you matter.” AOC then went on to rip Marjorie Taylor Greene’s recent stock transactions, asking her: “How much did you make? How much did you make off of people’s despair? How much did you make off of that panic? How much did you make off of that suffering? No more. We can’t accept it.” And Bernie was on a roll, taking aim at Trump’s fragile ego, saying: “He now wants to take away CBS’s license because they did a story that criticized him. Oh my word, CBS criticized him! Oh, let’s drive them out of business, how terrible … If you can’t take criticism, get out of the political process. This is a democracy.” ✂

x During Donald Trump’s 84 days in office, he has visited his own properties 57 times. (That’s an average of nearly five days a week!) 26 of those visits were to his golf courses alone… — CREW (@crew.bsky.social) April 14, 2025 at 1:31 PM

x The government should not be hiding how it's spending taxpayers money. In fact, that's illegal. That's why we're suing the OMB for taking down its apportionments website.

x Trump weaponization campaign continues w/ right-wing media now reporting his cronies’ allegations about AG Tish James mortgages going as far back as 1983! The tit-for-tat is SO obvious I know the AG & she is the last one to get distracted from her job of protecting New Yorkers—or to bow to a bully

x I'm struggling so hard to give a fuck about a bunch of rich people who paid the 3rd richest person on Earth $500,000 to go to space for a few minutes, while there are folks here who can't even afford the basics to survive. — BrooklynDad_Defiant! (@mmpadellan.bsky.social) April 14, 2025 at 6:39 PM

Once he loses support for his handling of immigration, hopefully more will push back against his lawlessness. I’m still reeling that anyone, anywhere, supports his handling of ANYTHING.

A thing of beauty…
x AOC: I saw on Fox, Jeanine Pirro says that they found so many babies and two year olds and four year olds receiving social security. I got a notice for you Jeanine Pirro: those babies receive social security because their parents died. That’s not a waste. That’s humanity. That’s America.

And this!
x AOC: I heard that someone was flying a plane with a banner that said this is Trump country… It sure don’t look like it today. I don’t think this is Trump country. This is our country.
[image or embed] — Acyn (@acyn.bsky.social) April 15, 2025 at 9:34 PM
The money quote right here!
x AOC: Donald Trump is a criminal. He was found guilty of 34 felony counts of fraud, found liable for sexual abuse. If he wants to find the rapists and criminals in this country, he should look in the mirror

The news is hard, but I’m encouraged by all of the people doing incredible things to take back our country. One day at a time. One resistance action at a time. One election at a time. I believe with all my heart we will get through this. I’m incredibly hopeful we will see tremendous political change (for the better!!!) after this near miss of losing everything. Lots of people are angry that billionaires are pushing for an oligarchy. Lots of people understand that deporting just one of us means we are all in danger. Together we will right our ship. Thanks to everyone who struggles along with us here. It is so good to see you all. 💙

Today is Banana Day!!!
On the third Wednesday of April, we celebrate one of the most popular foodstuffs, the banana! The history of National Banana Day cannot be traced to a single date. Bananas were first brought from India and other Asian countries by Arab traders in the 4th century B.C. The fruit then spread through Africa, eventually making it to the New World by explorers and missionaries. 1865 is significant for being the year bananas became widespread on the American shore. The first enterprise to import bananas into the US was the Boston Fruit Company founded by Lorenzo Dow Baker. Bananas are a good source of dietary potassium and vitamin C. They are also a good source of dietary fiber, vitamin B6, and antioxidants such as lutein and zeaxanthin. These health benefits may help to reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer, and other chronic conditions. Bananas are classified as a type of berry. Happy Banana Day!!! 🍌🍌🍌
It's also National Eggs Benedict Day!
Eggs Benedict is a classic American breakfast dish consisting of poached eggs, Canadian bacon or ham, and hollandaise sauce on two halves of an English muffin. The origin of Eggs Benedict is somewhat disputed, but there are a few popular theories about its invention. One theory is that Eggs Benedict was created in the late 1800s at the Waldorf Hotel in New York City. According to this story, a wealthy customer named Lemuel Benedict requested "buttered toast, poached eggs, crisp bacon, and a hooker of Hollandaise" as a hangover cure. The dish was so popular that it was added to the hotel's menu. Another theory is that Eggs Benedict was invented in the late 19th century by chef Charles Ranhofer at Delmonico's restaurant in New York City. Ranhofer included a similar dish called "Eggs à la Benedick" in his cookbook "The Epicurean" in 1894. Regardless of its exact origins, Eggs Benedict has become a classic American breakfast dish and is enjoyed by many people around the world.
And National Health Care Decisions Day
NHDD was founded in 2008 by Nathan Kottkamp, a Virginia-based health care lawyer, to provide clear, concise, and consistent information on healthcare decision-making to both the public and providers/facilities through the widespread availability and dissemination of simple, free, and uniform tools (not just forms) to guide the process. The date was chosen to be the day after Americans file their tax return - building on the old adage that there are two things certain in life - death and taxes. So the day after you sort your taxes for the year, think about your health decisions.
Today is also World Voice Day!
This celebration started in Brazil in 1999 as the Brazilian National Voice Day. It was the result of a mixed initiative of physicians, speech-language pathologists and singing teachers that belonged to the former association ‘Sociedade Brasileira de Laringologia e Voz – SBLV’ (Brazilian Society of Laryngology and Voice), under the presidency of Dr. Nedio Steffen. This Brazilian initiative was followed by other countries, such as Argentina and Portugal, and the Brazilian National Voice Day became the International Voice Day. In the United States, the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery officially recognized this celebration in 2002 and in that year the event obtained the name ‘World Voice Day’
World Voice Day is devoted to the celebration of the phenomenon of voice. The aim is to demonstrate the enormous importance of the voice in the daily lives of all people.
And National Librarian Day!
Since its inception in 1958, National Librarian Day has served as a poignant reminder of the invaluable contributions made by librarians to society. Sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), this day was initially established to recognize the dedication and hard work of librarians across the nation. However, it wasn't until 2004 that National Librarian Day gained widespread recognition and celebration. In 2004, the ALA breathed new life into National Librarian Day as part of a larger campaign aimed at fostering appreciation for library staff. This resurgence marked a pivotal moment, highlighting the significance of librarians in preserving and disseminating knowledge. From organizing collections to providing assistance to patrons, librarians play a vital role in promoting literacy, education, and community engagement.
In Denmark, they are observing the Birthday of Queen Margrethe II
Margrethe II is Queen of Denmark, as well as the supreme authority of the Church of Denmark and commander-in-chief of the Danish Defense. Born into the House of Glücksburg, a royal house with origins in northern Germany, she was the eldest child of Frederick IX of Denmark and Ingrid of Sweden.
Welcome to the comments, Shady people! 😁
