Happy Monday! Back to work, cleaning up the Weekend Crazy.
I guess tops of the list this time is another round of tariff whiplash. The Early Weekend Crazy was that there was gonna be a suspension of the tariffs on… well, pretty much everything they were originally saying we were gonna have to learn to make for ourselves, domestically.
Then, the Late Weekend Crazy was the “announcement” that no, we weren’t, because there really was not suspension of tariffs on Chinese electronics after all. Or at least not of the kind the same guy told us there would be earlier in the weekend.
Greg Dworkin returns to kick off the week, get up to speed on that nonsense, and present a Raft o’ Equally Ridiculous Stories. Court orders being ignored. Governors’ mansions being set on fire. And another claim that Trump is in improbably robust health.
Today’s countdown numbers:

629 days—if we have those elections—until we seat a new Congress The Invasion Bingo random country generator says today’s an unlucky day for: Sweden! You know, I’m beginning to think this “random country generator” is a little less than random. It hops around the globe every few days, but it seems to settle into a pattern of selecting nearby countries for a day or two, before it moves on again. Friday’s target was Denmark, and I do think that we managed to escape the day without an overt invasion threat, even for Greenland. But to follow that up with Sweden seems like it’s less than entirely random. Not a big deal, really. We probably do have to worry about that, if only because this f-ing guy could make a problem for anyone. So the fact that we’ve stayed in Scandinavia serves our purposes just fine.
