I want to take a few minutes here and introduce people to the role of the Democratic National Committee, aka, the DNC. I saw a comment the other day complaining about Chair Ken Martin and the DNC. It was clear to me that the person was likely trolling, but recognized that perhaps they really didn’t understand their role.
Their primary role is to elect Democrats “...from the school board to the Oval Office.” That’s the nuts and bolts — recruiting candidates, provide candidates training, voter data and other resources. They also promote the party’s platform, and put on the Democratic National Convention every 4 years. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list, but to give you an overview.
The current Chair, Ken Martin, was elected in February, packed up his belongings and drove himself across country to D.C. He spent several weeks traveling the country meeting with Democrats and advocacy & constituent groups — listening to what was important to people so he could develop and launch a strategy to help us win elections.
You can follow @Democrats on Bluesky, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook.
Here on DailyKos you can find posts about the actions of the elected Democrats across the country by following the group, Democratic Party Spotlight. There are regular posts throughout the week, so stop by and join the fun!
x We’re launching a new DNC War Room. We are going to compete in every information space and put Trump and the Republicans on the defense every day. At this very moment, Trump is actively wrecking our country. He can’t go unchallenged. — Ken Martin (@kenmartin.bsky.social) April 7, 2025 at 8:12 AM
x A crucial part of our new War Room operation is reimagining the digital space as an organizing space. Here’s how we’re going to do that:

Trade wars
x NEW: U.S. pension funds lost approximately $169 billion. This is a direct result of Donald Trump’s erratic trade policy. — Democrats (@democrats.org) April 11, 2025 at 10:08 AM
x It’s another day in Trump’s trade war on working families. Costs are rising. Budgets are tightening. And it’s everyday people who are paying the price.

x Tariffs? Out of control. Prices? Skyrocketing.
Emergency powers? He’s abusing them.
And yet… not a single question about whether he’s even fit to serve. The math ain’t mathing.

Budget battle
x Here is an update from me after today’s vote on the Republican budget resolution. pic.twitter.com/HdMxzlpoew — Joaquin Castro (@JoaquinCastrotx) April 10, 2025
x They passed a resolution to bring a $4.5 trillion budget to the floor.
Their budget:
➡️ Adds trillions to the debt
➡️ Cuts nearly $1 trillion in healthcare
➡️ Spends trillions on tax giveaways to Elon Musk and the uber-wealthy pic.twitter.com/f95WthwEmJ — Congressman Greg Landsman (@RepGregLandsman) April 10, 2025
x President Trump and Republicans are trying to take away your healthcare to pay for tax cuts for millionaires. And over 1 million Wisconsinites on Medicaid, including kids, families, folks with disabilities, seniors, and so many others, will suffer because of it.

Democrats doing Democratic things…
x Our hearts are with the Dominican Republic, as so many grieve after this tragedy. To the families and friends who have lost their loved ones, the First Lady and I’s hearts are with you. Maryland is home to many Dominicans and we stand in solidarity with those here and abroad. — Governor Wes Moore (@govwesmoore.bsky.social) April 11, 2025 at 7:08 PM
x Black mothers face a maternal mortality rate 3 times higher than white women—a stark reminder of the work still needed to ensure every family thrives. As we begin Black Maternal Health Week we must advocate for equitable healthcare access, maternal support, and policies that uplift every voice. 💜

x As global temperatures continue to rise, it’s imperative that Congress provide families with innovative ways to beat the heat and lower energy costs.
I’m proud to introduce the Cool Roof Rebate Act with @ValerieFoushee and @RepRaulRuizMD to do just that.

x The President just ended the collective bargaining rights of over 1 million Americans.
I oppose Donald Trump’s union-busting effort and stand with the hardworking people of America who deserve fair wages and benefits. pic.twitter.com/MgbNPByhIa — Rep. Jason Crow (@RepJasonCrow) April 8, 2025
x As Water Week wraps up, I'm proud to serve as the top Democrat on the Water Resources Subcommittee and represent South Florida’s beaches.
Water is vital to our health, environment, and economy—so let’s recommit to conservation, coastal protection, and a sustainable future. pic.twitter.com/vF1KyvQ6g7 — Rep. Frederica Wilson (@RepWilson) April 12, 2025
x Trump lawyers have launched a legal “recon in force” against the courts to see just how much they can get away with, and the courts need to stand strong.

x If Trump gets away with destroying Due Process for Kilmar Garcia, he’ll think he can sweep anyone off the street and ship them to a prison in an authoritarian state to escape our Constitution. We must heed the Supreme Court and get him back.

x Heartfelt thanks to @SenJeffMerkley (right) for taking time out his jam-packed day to chat with Disability Rights Oregon CEO Jake Cornett and Board Chair Emilie Wylde Turner.
