A letter to my Black Fam

Greeeings to you Fam, I have querried those who are in charge of our adhesion into the world of equality and justice and I have been told that progress is being made.

After almost 600 years, we are nearer today than we were yesterday! Wait… I’m receiving a message, ohh there has been a foreseeable event, some backsliding occurred, we are still nearer today than we were 50 years ago! That is still progress fam!

What are years, decades, centuries, when the goal is so desired! Tis a mere blink of the eye as we await the coming of the mythical god of equality in this the land where all were created equal! We have been blessed on this road of never-ending progress. It should not matter to us that every time we’ve started seeing the end of the tunnel, it has flooded with fire and halted our progress, for we have survived and that is a blessing.

Put away your anger and rage against the builders of blockades and obstacles, they work tirelessly to make sure our journey is filled with historical content for our children, is that not a blessing fam! Look at the brave souls helping us remove obstacles, see how they cheer us on from the sidelines and direct us to where to put the removed debris!

I have overheard something of interest, fam. I heard them talking about our overt impatience against the length of time it’s taking us, they are wrought with us, there’s talk of stopping the work, if we do not show more appreciation for our progress, I beg of thee fam, silence thy grumblings, less they displease the builders and set us back more years. Smile and thank them for their lazyrious (not a typo) work, so they might speed up to the pace of the tortoise.

Now let us see how we may help them in impeding our advance, for it is disturbing to them that we seem to have more prowess than they are comfortable with, let us hid our abilities in order for them to enjoy the fruits of our labor in the comforting shade of our misery.

Do not fam look forward to see how far ahead they are, do not ask why once they pass they take care to put more obstacles on the road, but look behind and see the progress we have made, sure we can still see where we started, but behold the space between… count the steps!

Keep the faith fam, one day our great grandchildren may reach the end of this road and know the taste of equality and justice.

/S
