News Anchor: Because your whole world can change in 24 hours [1]

Call me old fashion, or a “libtard” or old hippie or whatever, they might fit or might not.
While I have walked this earth for the last 70 years, fought one war, logged timber with helicopters, worked on the B1 assembly, worked for myself and the Airlines I think I have learned something about the world. Not everything because Sapiens really never stop learning.
As Coach Ted said “Be curious not judgmental.”
That curiosity has helped to make me a better citizen of the earth. I often say the greatest gift I got from Catholic school was the gift of reading. I am a reader, I also write and though I’m an unpublished author and still posses bad grammar, am lazy at proof reading I enjoy writing.
Back in my younger years I was the president of a local union. in addition to helping the local grow from 300 members to over 1,000 I started that local’s newsletter for its members along with the recording Secretary. We won several awards for our reporting. This experience taught us the importance of speaking truth to power which didn’t endear us to either the Union’s leadership nor the Company’s but to those whom mattered the most, the members.
Free speech can be anything said in a conservation, a speech, a political campaign or an opinion. Truth and facts are news, policy, information or knowledge. Without truth there is no growth, peace and freedom dies. it is replaced by oppression, corruption and fear. Without free speech there would be no democracy.
No Liberty.
No pursuit of happiness.
It’s all connected.
One of my favorite movies of all time is Deadline USA archive.org/ … Staring Humphrey Bogart. It’s the story of a newspaper in the 50’s that being bought out by a mobster who’s sole purpose is to silence the reporting the paper is doing against the gangster.
(Sounds very familiar doesn’t it?)
During one scene the hero of the story Ed Hutchinson is in court trying to stop the sale. an attempt that fails and the sale proceeds.
freedom of the press. And I'm talking right of the public to a marketplace of ideas, news and opinions. Not of one man's or one leader's or even one government's” Ed tells the court that he’s not opposed to the sale “Because without competition, there can be noof the press. And I'm talking about free enterprise, your honor, Theof theto a marketplace of ideas, news and opinions. Not of one man's or one leader's or even one government's”
Were am I going? I am a consumer of the news, a political junkie, if you wish, but I see that types of censorship being placed on Americans by this administration.
Censorship doesn’t apply to the press, it applies to everyone, every corporation and even to our government agencies. Censorship is when that free speech is throttled.
Donald Trump signed a total of 327 executive orders during his time in office, many deal with censoring Americans in one form or another. But censorship none the less.
