It's Tax time! Make sure you leave a paper trail. [1]

Just a couple suggestions here. You KNOW that the new regime has been messing around with the IRS. Laying off a bunch of the people who read and check the tax returns just before the April 15 rush! Also Elon Musk’s hacker crew has gotten in there and done who knows what to the IT systems. What could possibly go wrong?

This year I sent in my federal tax returns on paper and kept scans of everything on my own computer. Then I sent the paperwork in via certified mail, return receipt. I will NOT use electronic filing.

I will get a refund this year IN THE MAIL. Sorry, just too many fingers have been into the government’s IT systems for me to trust a direct deposit. I did not have to make a payment this year. If you have to do so, my advice is to pay with a cashier’s check or postal money order.

Make sure you have a complete paper trail, at least for now.
