Trump is a narcissistic gaslighter; you have to deal with him as you would a mentally ill patient.
Just nod, pat him on the back of the hand, and say, Yes, dear.
When he says others have paid for the tariffs, gently say, There, there, never mind.
You know its a load of bullshit, the people paying are not the exporters but the importers.
Just be quiet, and he will not get the attention he craves; wait for his own party and electorate to catch up.
He has everyone rattled; that was his aim, but when those who voted for him realise the tax is upon them, it may sink in.
Why should everyone else put tariffs on goods from the US? Why increase our costs?
For several reasons, current and historical, we know that the US is a fickle superpower.
The US percentage of global GDP dropped from around 40% in 1960 to 25% today and is predicted to be around 16% in a decade or so.
What we should be doing is insulating ourselves from US infidelity.
