We built a pergola in the front yard years ago and planted wisteria on it in honor of Bill’s grandmother. The picture above is of one of two giant wisteria vines the were supported on long clothes lines in her back yard. You can see how this one magnificent was.
He talks about sitting under the flowers on a discarded toilet because in Texas in the summer it was the coolest place in town. The porcelain bowl was cool in the shade and comfy for a boy. It was also private and quiet.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

We had to take down our wooden pergola due to bug infestations and Bill put up a new, thin metal one that we could drape the original vine over with no harm, no foul. It has started to bloom, from the new part on one side right now, but the older part is starting to send out greenery and buds that look like lilac grapes.
The colors are so vibrant and so is the aroma. My nose doesn’t work very well but Bill and Lil Zen assure me the scent is heavenly.
Our front yard, circa today
This was the original pergola. The arch across from side to side was curved and let me tell you, we had a time scheming that one out. We were very proud of ourselves. The new one will fill in like this in years to come.
I miss this one because we made it and it was so full, circa ~2021
This is a short diary for me because I don’t feel well. I have a little dry cough, and cold flashes between hot flashes. The excitement never ends. Have a good day all and smell the flowers.
