The #CitizensOath Challenge [1]

I’ve never taken the oath to the Constitution.
As a natural-born citizen, you don’t have to—unless you serve in the military, work for the Federal government, or are elected to office.
After the protests this weekend, I felt like I needed to do something more. I wanted to take that energy and hope, and seal it in. I decided to modify the Oath for citizens (naturalized citizens, of course, have to take the Oath as the final step to become citizens), and take it on video—and then challenge friends and family to do the same.
The Constitution is the blueprint of our nation; the operating system that runs our government. An Oath to the Constitution for Citizens would be like that End User License Agreement you click— I have read and understood the instructions, and commit to being bound by these rules.
I decided that I needed to take the Oath—a version that does NOT pledge loyalty to the President, but to the nation writ large. I needed to personally feel the obligation, the hope, the burn of pledging at a soul-level that if push comes to shove, I will do EVERYTHING to defend this nation from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
Here’s the Citizen’s Oath:
I ______name________ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;
that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;
that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion;
and that I will well and faithfully discharge the rights and responsibilities afforded to me as a Citizen of the United States of America.
So help me God.
I just took it, and I'm challenging my friends and family to take it and pass the challenge along. You can watch me do it, with some simple instructions.
I’d love it if we can get this to go viral, because I think the next thing we need to do—other than more protests, which need to become regular—is we need to demand that Congress takes back it’s Constutitionally defined role for tariffs, war declaration, and oversight. Yes, even with Republicans in charge of both Chambers.
Imagine if we can say—I took the same oath you did, and now I demand you do your damn job!
