Time to wake up and smell the capitalism
I posted the image above on social media with the tag line:
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Times like this call for a cup of coffee.
A friend responded by asking, “Yes, but will we be able to afford it?”
I responded with the following minor epiphany:
I have a sneaky admission: My employer has a barista in every building, and the coffee is free. All I have to give them in exchange is 50+ hours of my life every week and the bulk of my creative capacity. So to answer your question, no.
Which really is how we wound up in our desperate times. 44 years of economic policy siphoning money from those who work to into the hands of the wealthy has created a world in which we work longer and harder every year to afford fewer and fewer essentials.
like a cup of coffee.
