CEO Survey: "This is the Trump Recession" [1]

The real-time-ish GDP nowcast from the Atlanta Fed’s research department (see chart above) won’t update again until Wednesday. But in the absence of new economic data, CNBC’s occasional CEO surveys give a sense of the sentiment. Here’s link: www.cnbc.com/...
Now, I don’t have a lot of sympathy for these CEO’s, since many of them support Republicans no matter what, most of them have kowtowed to Trump even though they know the threat to democracy and stability, and a lot of them are flamboyant douchebags. I know this from all the board meetings I attended before retiring — Hey, it’s not slander if it’s accurate. Most CEOs — d-bag or not — are intelligent (I refuse to say “smart”), however. The majority of CEOs in the survey (69%) now expect a recession, this year.
For a combination of your amusement and horror, some block quotes from today’s CEO survey of Trump’s self-imposed economic disaster:
“Disappointingly stupid and illogical,” is how one CEO described the tariffs in the CNBC CEO Council survey. “Without faith that our government knows what it is doing, it is impossible for businesses to thrive.”
“Trump has imposed tariffs on component parts that are simply unavailable in the U.S. and never will be. He has surrounded himself with an incompetent cadre of yes men and women unable or unwilling to offer him cogent counsel,” said another.
