Normally I concentrate on good news and fostering optimism.
But sometimes we cannot allow the bad news to be buried.
According to the AP as reported by Yahoo News, a second child has died of measles. Devi Shastri
A second unvaccinated school-aged child in West Texas died from a measles-related illness, a hospital spokesman confirmed Sunday, as the outbreak continues to swell. Aaron Davis, a spokesperson for UMC Health System in Lubbock, Texas, said that the child was “receiving treatment for complications of measles while hospitalized” and did not have underlying health conditions. The hospital declined to say which day the child died. Neither the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention nor the Texas State Department of State Health Services include the death in their measles reports issued Friday. Spokespeople for the state health department, the CDC and the U.S. Health and Human Services Department didn't immediately respond to requests for comment on Sunday.
As the piece points out (and I have bolded), this data point was not included in the recent statistics.
Maybe the death was too recent.
Or maybe the omission was deliberate.
We can all recall how tRump tried to block a cruise ship from docking because he did not want his covid numbers to go up.
The attitude toward vaccinations is killing people, endangering kids.
Question: is there any way to store this information so that we keep statistics when the tRump regime is lying to us?
I understand someone at the Handsoff rally was holding a sign with these words. I couldn’t find it again, and I like this cat.
