My reporting on treasury secretary Scott Bessent [1]

There is a diary on the rec list writing that (based on reporting from Stephanie) that Scott Bessent is freaking out and ready to resign.

I have my own reporting, based on watching Secretary Bessent on Meet the Press.

I can report that he is a complete toady, just repeating the Trump line. Tariffs are great, just relax and in a year or two you’ll see how great they are. Dont worry about the stock market crumbling.

People keep saying how intelligent and experienced Bessent is, but I’m not seeing it. According to my reporting (which again comes from watching him) he’s a complete moron with no expertise in economics. He did quote a few studies which made him look smart I guess, and he has nice glasses. So maybe not a complete moron? I think will Ferrell would be great to play him by the way.

There was no indication of him resigning.

so there you have it. Do you trust Stephanie’s sources, or my reporting directly from the man himself?
