Cabinet Secretaries lie about tariffs and Pam Bondi about everything on Sunday News Shows [1]

Date: 2025-04-06

Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent isn't talking like he's on the way out. On Meet The Press, Kristen Welker laid out the market reaction to the tariffs.

Welker: The markets just lost $6 trillion in value, was this always part of the plan Mr. Secretary?

Bessent: Markets are organic, they're animals....Everything is working very smoothly.

Then he talks about the first Trump term because he has no answer to the disaster. Kristen keeps asking how long this is going to go on and all Bessent can do is hem and haw.

Bessent: ... We are going to hold the course and this has been years in the building. Our trading partners have taken advantage of us.

At this point, there wasn't any reason to keep watching because all he was going to do was deflect and blame the Biden Administration and pump up Trump's first term.

Time to move on to Howard Lutnick on Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.

Brennan: Did you expect this level of shock to the financial markets?

Lutnick: You've got to realize this is a national security issue. We don't make medicine in this country anymore. We don't make ships, we don't have enough steel and aluminum to fight a battle... We've got to stop all these countries from ripping us off…

Brennan: You caused an absolute panic in the global markets. Did you expect that, or were you surprised?

Lutnick: You need to reset the power of the United States of America…

Still another idiot who wasn't going to answer the question because they have no way to deal with the market crash. On to the next idiot.

George Stephanopoulos with Kevin Hassert WH Economic Council Director.

Stephanopoulos: ...How high are prices going to go, and how long are they going to stay there?

Hassert: The stories you just gave. There's a logical disconnect. The stories you're using to attack President Trump.

He went on for a minute deflecting everything with a smile on his face that told you that he knew he was lying.

Stephanopoulos: President Trump posted on Truth social that the market drop is a tactic meant to make the FED drop interest rates. Is that part of the strategy? If not, why did he post it?

Hassert: The President has been talking about tariffs for 4 years, and throughout his political career. Typical cycle of the Fed, it comes it goes.

George nailed him time after time as Hassert tried to scoot away from the subject of Trump tanking the markets as a strategy. There wasn't any more reason to watch. Moving on to the next show.

Finally got a realistic display on Dow Futures and it's already down 1300 points 5:00 p.m. Pacific on Sunday.

Jake Tapper had Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins on State of the Union. He played a clip of audio of Ted Cruz saying how bad the tariffs were going to be if they were still in place 30, 60, 90 days from now.

Tapper: How long is this tariff chaos going to be going on? 30 days, 60 days, 90 days?

Rollins: The president announced his plan on Wednesday, and we're two days in, 2 days of data. Everyone on your side, the left…

Tapper: I'm not on the left.

Rollins: At the end of the day, the whole concept is about rebuilding an American economy around American goods. We are already living under a tariff regime from China from Mexico, from Brazil.…

Jake just looked on with a quizzical look on his face. He was realizing he wasn't going to get it direct answer.

Jake: Are these tariffs to be negotiated, or are they going to stay?

He didn't an answer.

Jake: ... the Heard and McDonald Islands have zero human inhabitants, zero imports, and zero exports, they do have a lot of penguins.

Rollins: Here's the bottom line. We live under a tariff regime from other countries.…

Same difference, a smiley face spewing lies. Next show.

As I'm writing this, Dow Futures are now down 1600 points.

Fox News Sunday with Shannon Bream and Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Bream: Is there any situation where the President gets an order from the Supreme Court and he doesn't comply?

Bondi: He will comply with the law. He was overwhelmingly elected... to be our commander in chief, and that's what he's doing. Since January 20th we've got over 170 lawsuits filed against us, that's the real constitutional crisis... trying to control his executive power…

Brennan brings up the 5-4 SCOTUS decision, but other cases look like they're going to win on merit. Then Bondi goes off about DEI.

Bondi: The court says the president can control the allocation of funds, and we don't have to spend them on DEI... it's a game of whack-a-mole with these District judges…

Brennan brought up the case of Abrego Garcia, who was sent to El Salvador without any due process and she asked Bondi wouldn't it be useful if you showed us the evidence of him being a gang member and a criminal. But, Bondi dodges it.

Bondi: We just arrested three MS-13 gang members in my home state this week…

Brennan: The judges said that he needs to be brought back by Monday. Wouldn't you be able to charge him here?

Bondi: Our jails are full of people. We want to send people out of our country.

Then Bondi pivots to talking about the insurance CEO killer. Nothing to do with Mr. Garcia in El Salvador.

Last was Peter Navarro on Fox Sunday morning futures with Jackie DeAngelis filling in for Maria Bartiromo.

Jackie: Everybody's asking me what's happening with the markets.

Navarro: To small investors out there, you can't lose money if you don't sell. The smart strategy is to stay in. We're going to have the biggest boom we've ever seen in the stock market... we will find a bottom in this market quickly...

Then Navarro, the man behind the calculation that created all this disaster, starts talking about 2016. All of these people bring up 2016. It's not 2016 anymore it's 2025.

Navarro: We're going to hit 50,000 on the Dow. We're going to have a broad-based recovery.

So what does he do next? He's blaming the market on Biden. How all these bad things were happening then at the stock market on most of the stocks, and just a couple did well. What a bunch of hogwash.

Then Jackie brings up the supposed 50 countries that want to talk to Trump about their tariffs and negotiate a different rate. And how does that stick with Trump's claim that he's not going to change policy?

Navarro: Vietnam is the tariff poster child…

There's only so many lies I can stand watching and transcribing.

Ayman on MSNBC keeps showing this clip of Trump on Air Force One blaming everything on Biden. It won't work this time Donald. Joe Biden did not do this. Not a single person in the world is going to fall for it. Your cabinet can't keep lying and get away with it. Monday is going to be hell in the markets.

The only things Donald Trump has on his schedule tomorrow is meeting with the World Series winners Los Angeles Dodgers at 11:00 a.m. ET. Then at 2:30 is a press conference with Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

There will be press present at both events. The Dodgers come first, and the question is will the reporters bring up the market at that time, or wait until later with Netanyahu? Everybody has to be pre-credentialed so there's a possibility that there won't be any reporters that will ask the tough questions. We just don't know anymore what's happening with the press at the White House. The control of it has been taken over by Karoline Leavitt.

We can only hope that Fox News plays hardball. If the reporters can't do it, maybe the Dodgers will.
