MENSA & some astrology groups have what they call SIGs (special interest groups). I propose that we turbo charge the Democratic Socialists of America by adding SIGs. Some ideas: Switching our government to Proportional Representation can reduce the odds of a Nazi getting back into the Oval Office. We need to shut down the Electoral College & eliminate the related corruption. Notice the dynamic economies of small countries when they have Universal Higher Education. Be a real Christian & provide Universal Daycare as do France & Israel. DSA chapters should buy & refurbish multi-use buildings to provide an income stream to finance campaigns. We need to remove the tax cap to Social Security so that we’ll never be threatened by a financial sunset. DSA chapters need to own delicatessens where members can buy groceries slightly above wholesale prices. The Netherlands, the U.K. & Vienna have massive Affordable Housing Trusts which have the impact of containing housing costs even among privately-owned rentals. Each DSA chapter should develop a housing trust of quadplexes for adults & duplexes for families w/ kids. We need to revert the authorization of tariffs to the House Ways & Means Committee. We need to break up agriculture monopolies. We need to claw-back tax rebates from the petroleum companies. Cooperatively-owned businesses do a better job of insulating one from a manipulated capitalist economy than do unions. DSA chapters should mentor the development of coops. — Andrew Homer, AbqDSA,
