Street Prophets Coffee Hour: Spring Birds and a farewell to Taffy [1]

Welcome to the Street Prophets Coffee Hour.
We’re having a bit of a weather mix-up. It’s been near 90° a few days, in the 80s many days, and now we’re back near freezing at night—with 80s again this next week. It has me confused, it has my plants confused, and I’m not sure the birds know what to make of it, either.
Here is a selection of birds you might see in April and May, as they follow the warming weather. If you follow the hummingbird migration map, you can tell when hummers have been sighted in your area, and which ones. They could certainly use sugar after expending all their energy crossing the Gulf of Mexico, and especially to get through the cold, wet nights.
This hummingbird is a ruby throat.
Male scarlet tanager.
Tree swallow.
Barn swallow
Male eastern bluebird. They don’t migrate, but they’re looking for nesting boxes.
Baltimore oriole.
Baltimore oriole. Oranges and grape jelly. They’ll want that for the first month after migration, then they turn to other foods.
Female ruby throated hummingbird. Hummers want sugar water all summer. They’ll also eat the ants that come to the feeders.
Male ruby throat.

And I sadly had to let go of my 21-year-old torti, Taffy.
This is an open thread. All topics are welcome.
