Trump uses National Child Abuse Prevention Month to attack gender ideology [1]

For the second time in one day, Trump took something good and twisted around to his own ends.

The Proclamation is for National Child Abuse Awareness Month, 2025.

The first two paragraphs are fine, but when he gets to the third, he goes into his fetish against anything that isn't straight, white male or female.

"Sadly, one of the most prevalent forms of child abuse facing our country today is this sinister threat of gender ideology."

"...sinister threat..." What ever happened to incest, Donald? If you want to talk about children finding that they're in the wrong type of body, and comforting them, why is that so wrong? Why do you have to attack everything?

"Proponents of the gender ideology movement are outrageously indoctrinating our children with the devastating lie that they are trapped in the wrong body..." I hadn't even read this part when I wrote the above. I should have seen it coming.

"... gender ideology movement..."

I had no idea that there was one. Sounds like a massive conspiracy. He makes it sound like children are being turned into people they don't want to be. They're being forced to change. But that's not what's happening. It's only happening in Trump's brain, which always leaves a lot to be desired.

"... and that the only way they can be truly happy is to alter their sex with hormone therapy, puberty blockers, and sexual mutilation surgery."

It's always "sexual mutilation surgery," and not gender affirming care. I think he did spent most of an executive order about this when he banned "men In women sports." Everybody and every body is different, Donald. Each is a different case. Each has a different path.

"The evil and backward lies of gender insanity are robbing our children of their happiness, health, and freedom, while imposing unimaginable heartbreak on parents and families."

It's really hard to discuss this with Trump when everything is "...evil and backward lies..." I'm surprised he hasn't brought up Pizzagate. "...unimaginable heartbreak..." Why don't you just let parents and their children decide what's right and wrong? Heartbreak is having an unhappy child.

Only Trump could come up with an executive order to solve a problem that doesn't exist. EO 14187 "... prohibit (ed) schools from indoctrinating our children with transgender ideology, while also taking action to cut off taxpayer funding to any institution that engages in the sexual mutilation of our youth."

Trump makes it sound like schools have classes in it. The use of different pronouns would fit this category. It's so simple to offend Trump, like DEI. Somebody, please, tell Trump that kids don't go into school in the morning and come out a different sex at the end of the day. He's actually said that several times.

"...I have taken historic action to secure our southern border and end child trafficking..."

If you really cared about children you wouldn't be separating them from their parents at the border, and then losing track of where the parents and their children are. You're creating a situation for child trafficking with the separation. This is what Trump did in his first administration. Things are different now (PDF), but children can still be separated from their parents for numerous reasons.

The last two paragraphs are aspirational fluff. He's already done the damage in the bulk of the Proclamation.

Trump makes gender ideology sound like Godless communism in the 1950s. Socialism was instantly bad, without anybody thinking about what Social Security was.

The problem is that there is a large anti-LBGTQ+ segment of our society. They just can't let anyone be who they are. Trump and Republicans even use the fear of their bathroom use to attack.

There is this belief that if trans aren't stopped from existing, they're going to take over the whole country. Like it's an infectious disease.

Trump is following the same tactic as Hitler. MAGA doesn't understand that the road to Hitler is to attack minorities and scapegoat them. Drag queens are especially loathsome because they look so different. They're instantly a danger to children, even just reading a book to them. The books that are left to read.

The worst part is that Trump is convinced he's doing the right thing.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. What happens when the intentions aren't good?
