The Effects of Integration on the African American Psyche [1]

Integration weakened the power of our psychological and spiritual constitutions. As we were a people who had not (and still have not!) Developed a complete cultural value system and or definition of ourselves, apart from the value systems of our former masters. Thus leaving us vulnerable to defining ourselves COMPLETELY through the lens of our oppressors. Our definition of success is HIS definition of success. Our ONLY definition of self, is HIS definition of who we are. This has caused us to be perpetual practitioners of HIS mediocrity. We strive to be EQUAL to his mediocrity, while he studies us and our history in hopes that one day he will be able to duplicate the magnanimous greatness of OUR past. Then, AUDACIOUSLY he HIDES that history! He WELL knows the history of our past greatness! His greatest fear is that one day WE will know.
A peoples history is not only their memory. It also serves as a peoples compass as to what road to travel toward progress. Whites have CONSTANTLY blocked that road. During the days of segregation Blacks were standing on the verge of arriving at a cultural value system that would be created by them, defined by them, and respected by them. These could work as a super highway to accelerate the progression and advancement of the African American. The Foundation would be the telling of truth about OUR history as told factually by us and for us. The white washed and or homogenized history taught in most integrated educational institutions are lies to make the white masses comfortable and easier for the elite to control. It bolsters the myth of white supremacy, and at the same time subliminally plants seeds of inferiority in the minds of young African American children.
True integration by definition means joining and mixing with a different group. Until African Americans devise a cultural value system independent of their former masters and colonizers cultural ideas and norms, this CAN”T happen. Without a cultural value system defined by Black people, there is nothing for us to bring to the table. We will only be bringing dark skin whites of the colonized mind to the table. Thus making it much easier to be exploited by our oppressors. This is NOT integration, it is indoctrination.
