Well the ripples of the tRump Chaos (the Fifth horseman) are quickly moving outward and already harming many people.
Small businesses are already being harmed, an anecdotal story here.
I know, well am related to a small business owner (he hates tRump by the way), who has already seen the ripple of the tRump Taxes hitting him. As the chaotic and insane tRump Tariffs were announced and the markets after a few hours of being stunned reacted the ripples began.
As the markets collapsed ~10% over two days on top of a 5% loss prior in Jan-Feb, his customers, not wealthy but not poor either, began cancelling orders……30% of his orders vanished yesterday and who know how much today…..sigh,, are we Great Again yet?
See he is a very small business, he and his wife, making specialty items for moderately well to do upper middle class folks (not the super wealthy) which run, well north of >$500 for each unit.
Well his customers are seeing their portfolios shrink, their jobs in jeopardy and the economy collapsing around them and suddenly need to save cash and not take on more debt.
So he also is suddenly cutting all spending, no trip to the local Semi-private Hot Springs for Mother’s Day with us (reservations are hard to get)……this means the Hot Springs is also seeing us cancel reservations for four which means they lose our custom (entry fee) and we will not be buying their good but pricey food plates and liquor.
The Ripple moves outward…..if more folks cancel on what is a major sales day they then will have to cut costs somehow….and the most likely way is lay off workers.
We though now will plan on a Mother’s Day Tea on our back deck with treats/sandwiches made by moi and my brother-in-law.
I am sure this story is being repeated all over the US as the ripples of increasing prices by a minimum of 20% for everything occurs.
I will survive, though I worry about the kids and grandkids as they struggle to absorb this irrational destruction of our economy and national infrastructure (government services are infrastructure).
My personal wealth means nothing without Human Rights.
I have more than just money, I have family, I have neighbors, I have a community…..and they deserve better than this madness.
