Donald Trump couldn't get at Christopher Steele directly, so he sued the company Steele created called Orbis Business Intelligence.

The suit was filed in 2022. The AP News story misses the chain of custody. Just says Democrats were behind it. Fusion GPS was hired originally to research Trump by the Washington Free Beacon to do opposition research. When the Beacon saw that Trump was the front runner, they discontinued the research.

The DNC and Hillary Clinton's campaign retained the services of the Perkins Coie law firm, one that Trump tried to destroy with an executive order last month. Marc Elias, working at Perkins Coie in 2016, hired Fusion GPS to continue investigating Trump and they hired Christopher Steele, who created the infamous dossier of 35 uncorroberated memos. Information of some have now been found to be true, and much not disproven.

In the case against Steele's company Orbis, Trump claimed in his witness statement that he had never participated in "perverted sexual behavior including the hiring of prostitutes... in the presidential suite of a hotel in Moscow," taken part in sex parties in St. Petersburg, bribed Russian officials, or done anything that would be "sufficient material to blackmail me."

We also now have the story of Alnur Mossayev who named Trump as the Russian asset named Krasnov.

Trump was ordered to pay Orbis's legal fees of $382,000 in March of 2024 after his lawsuit was dismissed. Trump, as always, refused.

Orbis said the lawsuit should be thrown out because the dossier was never meant to be made public and was published by BuzzFeed without the permission of Steele or Orbis. It also said the claim was filed too late.

How BuzzFeed got their hands on the dossier that found it's way to the office of Sen. John McCain and then to top executive officials is still another story. In November of 2016, Steele gave the dossier to a Justice Department official and McCain gave it to the FBI and other agencies. Obama ordered an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

When Trump's case was thrown out in 2022, the judge said that, without ruling on the truth of the material in the dossier, that Trump's claim was "bound to fail" because he waited so long to bring the suit.

A hearing earlier this year decided what the full amount would be now with the 12% interest accruing daily.

Judge Jason Rowley, on Thursday, said Trump has to pay £626,058.98 or $818,733.26, and counting.

In all likelihood, Trump is going to refuse to pay again because thinks he's all powerful. He may be in U.S. courts on civil cases, but this is the United Kingdom and he does have a good deal of property there. Just in Scotland he has the Trump International Golf Links, MacLeod Golf Course and Turnberry, which was recently vandalized by pro-Palestinians protesters.

The United Kingdom is getting a 10% tariff while the European Union gets 20%.

Reaction to Trump's tariffs shouldn't have anything to do with his case, but British courts could get tired of Trump's refusal to pay. They could attach one of his properties if he keeps it up, even though the smallest property is worth tens of millions.

Think of the headlines. Especially because it's Christopher Steele.

Sorry, I just had too much fun writing those.

It's a financial game of chicken. Who can hold out the longest? Impatient British courts, Christopher Steele or Donald Trump?
