Got this message today appended to a quote from a supplier of high-end pressure systems:

Please note that this quote is only good until Monday. We will be having a price increase of about 20% next week due to Tariffs.

We’ve been projecting that our suppliers will be raising prices as soon as the threatened tariffs were implemented, and sure enough, here it is. That’s just one of our suppliers.

20% doesn’t seem like much, does it? But for just two products, we’re at about $4k, a fairly small order, so that calculates to a $800 increase!

Nobody’s budgeted for a 20% supplier increase. Business spending is going to crater. Manufacturing is going to have supply chain issues that make the pandemic look like a dry run. This is going to suck so much I’ll need to use one of those pressure units I’m ordering (tomorrow to beat the increase) that goes down to absolute vacuum.

Expand this across all of industry and maybe have trouble sleeping tonight...
