Victory in WI + Ask Your Congresspeople to "Be Like Booker" [1]

I’m feeling jazzed today for two main reasons:

1.✌️👩🏻‍⚖️Liberal judge Susan Crawford handily beat the conservative candidate Brad Schimel to maintain a liberal majority on the Wisconsin State Supreme Court yesterday! She won despite the fact that Elon Musk spent more than $25 million trying to defeat her (and she won in a spring election in an off election year.) Congrats to awesome Wisconsin Dems Chair Ben Wikler and all the hardworking folks in WI who made this possible! Read more about this victory in the NY Times (gift link).

Following closely on the heels of winning a seat in PA’s recent special election to retain a Democratic majority, and losing more narrowly than expected in FL yesterday, things are looking up for progressives and fans of democracy all across the U.S.

2. 🎤Senator Cory Booker of NJ broke the record for longest filibuster ever yesterday, standing up and speaking more or less continuously for 25+ hours yesterday. I watched some of it and found it quite moving and hella inspiring. He called on his colleagues, his party, the Republicans, and everyone to do the right thing. The YouTube livestream was remarkably well attended and the comments were flowing quickly and wildly enthusiastically. His remarks and the fact that he literally stood up and spoke truth to power for so long were inspiring. That brings me to today’s quick action.

I also want the Senator to call for Senator Schumer to step down as Minority Leader and support a younger and more outspoken leader like Senator Booker who will stand up and fight for our democracy.
