They Really Can and will take Greenland [1]

This thing with Greenland is kind of unbelievable. And we’ve been laughing at the idea that Trump will seize it. But I’ll bet you Greenland is gone by the end of 2025. As kids, my cousin and I pored over Superman comics and especially loved the ones featuring “Bizarro World” where everything was laughably topsy turvy. The planet wasn’t round. It was square. On Bizarro World the motto was:
“Us do opposite of all Earthly things! Us hate beauty! Us love ugliness! Is big crime to make anything perfect on Bizarro World.”
In fact, Superman was imprisoned there but negotiated his release by pointing out that the planet was perfectly round as in “are you guys sure you want a beautiful planet?” This type of symmetry, beauty and perfection offended his captors. He offered to make it square. They accepted and he was set free, leaving behind a square planet and insane people who valued sheer ugliness.
We’ve entered Bizarro World where up is down, good is bad, friends are foes and enemies to be cherished. And God knows these people love ugliness.
The Maybelline Marine went to a military base in Greenland (because he was not welcome off base) and lectured Denmark saying comically that Denmark had mismanaged the security of Greenland. He said this from a United States military base, sitting right there in Greenland. . He implied the United States could better secure Greenland. WE have been the security for Greenland. So, something more secure than having a US military base there?
Nothing they say makes sense in Bizarro World. Don’t try to make it. But what’s behind this?
No secret. Russia, Russia, Russia. The Arctic holds 22% of the world’s oil and gas. And it’s melting fast. Russia is casting a covetous eye on the Arctic. As the Earth warms, the natural barrier between Russia and the rest of the northerly part of the world is rapidly disappearing. This has put Russia in a direct path towards conflict with Canada and Nordic Europe. Trump wants to kneecap NATO, disdain Europe, and acquire Greenland (which,ironically, helped protect us from Russia). We are now fully aligned with Russian interests. Putin runs Russia like a business (Be careful what you ask for). Someone —McCain?— called it a gas station masquerading as a country. Trump wants the same and wants a business merger between the two former nations, which are becoming wholly owned private companies. We are in the mergers and acquisitions phase.
Greenland is part of NATO. So, in Bizarro World we would have to defend Greenland against ourselves if we invaded. We can’t have that. So, disband NATO just the way we are axing social security —-from within. Simply don’t participate and signal that NATO is just a money pit rife with fraud like social security and every single other governmental agency that protects consumers. Slander the alliance that has kept Europe free. In fact, just slander Europe while you are at it. And don’t attack ourselves when we invade because that would just be silly, and of course Europe wouldn’t dare defend Greenland against us.
To the casual observer the idea that we would takeover Greenland is ludicrous. There was a wonderfully well-written diary to this effect a few days ago. Aggression against Greenland is like wanting to turn your nice, round planet square. But to anti-democratic fascists who want to help their business partner, Russia, it makes sense. And they aren’t kidding. And they can take Greenland easily and will.
I live on an island with 185,000 people. A nearby island in the chain is WHOLLY OWNED by multi-billionaire Larry Ellison. Why are we letting this billionaire own an entire Hawaiian island? Less than 5,000 people there. Greenland has 50,000. Musk the money to buy them out. If not, Trump will just take it from Fort Knox. For a big chunk of money you could buy the vote of every citizen in Greenland to reject mother Denmark and join with mother Russia’s mini-Me. Each citizen would come away with a chunk. As Rachel Maddow has explained, Russia is behind many if not all secession movements. He wants us split up.
Musk paid $285 million to help Trump‘s campaign and literally tried to buy votes in a Wisconsin special election (ha ha!). They can take Greenland the nice way or…well, we already have a military base in your country you hapless goons. And now we are the ones you need to defend against. The US military can literally roll into town and knock over the capital in minutes.
We live in Bizarro World now where everything we thought was good and true is false. The most Bizarro aspect of this is that in essence they have already achieved their objective —to help their business partner, Russia. If Russia wants to come and grab whatever they want on, in, or around Greenland, the Regime won’t stand in the way…..provided they give us a cut.
If Canada resists an arctic incursion they will be incensed and vow retaliation to which they will say “Oh, yeah? —-You and what army?”
And all that stood in the way of any of this before was friendship and respect for democracy —values utterly disdained in Bizarro World.
I predict Greenland falls in short order.
