Trump Executive Order Changes April Fools Day to April 2 [1]

President Trump only teased at eliminating Daylight Saving Time, turned DEI upside down, and actually did change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, in some quarters. But his most significant culture war upset may yet be in the offing, though quite unintended. Tomorrow, April 2, will henceforth be known as April Fools Day. April 2nd you see, is the day which Trump has proclaimed Liberation Day. The rest of the world will know Liberation Day as Trump’s crowning folly for he is the Supreme April Fool, implementing the biggest tax hike in world history for no possible benefit.
One hallmark of a fool is to crow about a grand accomplishment which is apparent to all others as being quite the opposite, a grand disaster. Trump declares that his tariffs will “bring home wealth” to United States, to the tune of Six Trillion Dollars. In fact everyone but Trump, who has demonstrated an uncanny ability to be impervious to facts, knows that tariffs are paid by importers of goods, not by exporting countries. His tariffs are thus taxes on goods and services paid by consumers in the United States, not by foreign nations he claims are taking advantage of us. Rather than “bringing home wealth”, he is sapping the already strained budgets of American businesses and households, for imaginary gains.
Philosophically, the last laugh will be on him as he realizes that no new wealth is brought into the country. However, to everyone else around the world and especially in the USA, the resulting misery and economic decline will be anything but funny.
