The President’s DOGE Commission Thinks Social Security is a SCAM and a PONZI Scheme [1]

Given the Republican party’s full-frontal attack on Social Security, why would any worker or any retiree ever vote for a Republican again?
First, the President made a promise that on “day one”, the economy would improve for everyone. This promise has not aged well as the stock market declined based on market confusion about trade tariffs, inflation increased, egg prices soared, and farmers will lose market share for their products to competitors around the world.
The “day one” and the weeks following it are looking considerably less bright.
In fact, the day one promises are looking more and more like a bait and switch scheme. The immediate improvement promised has morphed into a be patient warning. Now we are told that things will get worse, and their will be some pain before there is any improvement in the economy.
Note the lack of specific information that defines how much pain will need to be endured, who will be affected, and how long such pain will last.
It reminds me of how Karl Marx said the communist class struggle would evolve towards an ideal society. But the Soviet Union asked its citizens to endure decades as a dictatorship and police state on the way to the ideal world. Marx’s promised ideal world never came.
But second, to add to this broken promise, the attack on Social Security shows the real agenda of the Republican party. In George Carlin’s famous (warning: vulgar language) monologue, he said, “they’re coming for your social security.” He was right.
How does it feel to have Elon call every retired or disabled person on Social Security a “scammer?” They are all participating in a dishonest enterprise – a Ponzi scheme. They are all dishonest leaches and evil dependents begging for alms from the government.
Will this broken “day one” promise and insults about accepting Social Security FINALLY wake up these sleepwalking MAGA supporters? Democrats are labeled woke and they therefore have an especially difficult task to wake up sleeping Republicans.
Can their blindness continue to exist after such a creepy and dishonest assault on their honor — calling them scammers and fraudsters (Ponzi schemes are fraudulent investment schemes) after a life of hard work where they payed into Social Security the entire time?
The attacks on Social Security are part of a pattern. The list of Republican actions using and abusing the working and middle classes is long. There was the phony claims of WMDs in Iraq and the resulting 4,500 dead, the push for banking deregulation and the resulting tremendous loss of wealth in the 2007 financial crisis, the expensive and deadly war in Afghanistan with no plan to win and no plan to leave, the attacks on unions and consumer protection, the support for payday lenders and their usurious interest rates — I could go on.
“How many times” will people accept these kinds of assaults on their dignity and their economic and personal security? To quote Bob Dylan’s famous lyric, “The answer my friend is blowing in the wind.”
