here's a thought experiment...what if we were to have a one time equity tax?
instead of income, capital gains, whatever just take 2% of your net worth and give it to the government? invest in ourselves like a corporate buyback! like an HOA fee to improve the commons...a responsibility..
we that HAVE can afford that...put a base on it if you like..100 g's equity no payment, whatever...and even loan the money with reasonable interest for those not cashy but we all have to pay.
it would be gifting the government service..in this case service on our debt. we gift our very lives for the USA, why not money? no bone spurs, no exceptions, no way out but make our nation truly great by reduced shared burden. and shut up about the debt is bad w dems in power and what debt? when the r's get a turn.
we need support the system that has allowed us an exceptional life. just give back....
the conversation started with 2% tax cut across the board or a 2% tax increase...which is better and why. the problem with income taxes, value added taxes (sales tax) is they can’t capture the money that ‘doesn't move’. the estate tax used to help but recent rules have neutered it...(As of 2025, the exemption amount is set to be $13.99 million per individual...) they called the estate tax the death tax, this is the LIFE TAX.
old men make wars, young men fight them..this way we all contribute and 2% of a billion is $20,000,000...
