The Orange one has decided that funding Food Banks is a waste of money. We all realize how badly this will hurt many people. Since the Pandemic we have had 2 Free Food Pantries, “Take what you need, leave what you can” . The need/demand on these has not let up. I don’t know how many people are anonymously dropping off food/personal car items, but it is almost every day.
Until this weekend when I stumbled across this site, www.littlefreepantry.org, I did not realize how wide spread they were. You can put your zip code in and see if there is one near you here: mapping.littlefreepantry.org .

What I like about these is they are open 24/7 and there is no application process, or having to find transportation to pick it up. Plus it can be customized to the need in each area. The pantry box in my end of town mainly serves older adults and the homeless. The box on the other side of town mainly families. Different items are needed at each. While cash donations are best for the Food Banks, these boxes help the people that are missed. A Family might not quite meet the guidelines to receive a box, but the kids are still hungry and the daughter is missing school because of the lack of period products because they are in between paychecks. An older person’s Social Security check might not come until next week, but they are low on food now.
