Trump says 'not joking' about seeking 3rd term [1]

Trump told NBC news today that he was considering the possibility of seeking a third term, despite that pesky little 22nd Amendment to the United States Constitution explicitly forbidding him doing so.
President Donald Trump said Sunday that “I’m not joking” about trying to serve a third term, the clearest indication he is considering ways to breach a constitutional barrier against continuing to lead the country after his second term ends at the beginning of 2029.
Kristen Welker, of NBC, in trying to get some clarification on how he thought this might work, suggested that perhaps he would run as Vance’s running mate, who would then “pass the baton” to Trump. He replied that was one of several methods he could use: “’Well, that’s one,’ Trump responded. ‘But there are others too. There are others.’”
Welker asked if he would be willing to edify us about some of those “others.”
“’No,’ Trump replied.”
Oookay, then.
He claims, by the way, that Americans will be just fine with this, because he’s so popular, utterly fantasizing about having “the highest poll numbers of any Republican for the last 100 years.”
The Associated Press story then points out the utter fallacy of that claim, noting that George W. Bush had a 90% approval rating (compared to Trump’s maximum of 47%) shortly after the September 11, 2001 attacks, and George H.W. Bush had an 89% approval rating after the Gulf War in 1991. And that might be the most terrifying aspect of this entire horror story. Coming, as it does, in the midst of his saber rattling against Iran, (not to mention Greenland and Canada), I can’t help but wonder if he figures all he needs to be popular enough to install himself as Dictator-for-Life is to start World War III.
Look, I realize this is far from Trump’s first attack on the Constitution, but it would have to be the most blatant.
