We are living through something that sounds like it might come out a H.P. Lovecraft or Philip K. Dick novel or a conspiracy laden story that Alex Jones might come up with. This one isn’t some futuristic science fiction scenario out of a book however, it’s true and we are watching it play out in real time right in front of us.
Imagine if the richest most influential people on the planet decided that democracies have had their time and do not work. They have convinced certain members of the political class who hold leadership positions within the most powerful nation in the history of the world that a monarchy, feudalistic style government would better serve the survival of the planet. A noble reason to remove by any means necessary the liberal democracy style government and replace it with high IQ CEO types who have autocratic control.
Donald Trump has surrounded himself with people who are influenced by this philosophy. Particularly Elon Musk, JD Vance, Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon, Russell Vought and the team behind Project 2025.
We are witnessing the application of a political philosophy, a modern offshoot of libertarianism known as neo-reactionary or NRx. The adopted term for it, “Dark Enlightenment”, was coined by the intellectual father of the movement, English philosopher Nick Land. It was introduced to Peter Thiel and others through the writings of a software programmer living here in America named Curtis Yarvin. Yarvin has been mentioned by Bannon, Musk, Vance and their mentor Peter Thiel as having influenced their thinking.
