I’m living in a Kafka novel.
I got hit with a huge tax bill, so I wanted to contact the IRS to see if I could set up a payment plan. I tried to log on, only to find that they are now using something called Login.gov, and I needed to start over. After getting all the way through the process, I requested the code be sent to my phone for the final verification.
The system refused to recognize my cell phone.
I tried to log onto Social Security and found they too are now using Login.gov. My local Social Security office is closed, all offices have the same number, which funnels you to a pen somewhere, where your wait time is hours long.
You cannot just walk in, either, so I am now effectively cut off from both agencies. (DFAS is still responding.)
This is intolerable.
I’ll email AND call my three reps Monday and demand they get Musk OUT OF OUR GOVERNMENT. At this point I don’t care how his removal is achieved, only that he’s gone, the disgusting, ketamine-addled freak.
I’m now in that soul-crushing process of trying to figure out expenses two months in advance and where I can find money to pay this $4K+ bill.
Only in America do you have to pull from a tiny savings account to pay taxes so the rich don’t have to.
If anyone has found a solution to this nightmare, please let me know. Or send me money for cat food. Or adopt me. Barnaby and I thank you.
