Trump wants Washington DC to be Berlin 1939 [1]

Am I going off the deep end about Trump's latest decision to take over the city of Washington, D.C.? I don't think so.

His Executive Order is called: "Making The District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful." Sounds so innocuous, doesn't it?

The Fact Sheet is called: "Donald J. Trump Works to Make our Nation's Capital Safe and Beautiful." Still doesn't sound very bad.

Let's start with his Truth Social post from this yesterday morning.

"We need our Great Police back on the street, with no excuses from the Mayor or anyone else."

The Mayor of DC is a very nice lady named Muriel Bowser. Unfortunately for her, she's also Black. Trump has been ragging on her since before he was elected. Remember what he said about DC being dirty and filthy and covered in graffiti, and had nothing nice to say about the city during his campaign? He's just picking up where he left off the last time on Truth Social. The last time, he posted pictures of four spots in Washington DC that had homeless camps. The next day they were all cleared out, as you could see by the pictures. Trump took credit for it as a sign that he could pressure the Mayor to do his bidding.

"...no excuses..." No one is aware of any. If you want to talk about getting rid of trash, you shouldn't have released all those January 6th criminals onto the streets.

"I will work with the Mayor on this and, if it does not happen, will have no choice but to do it myself."

I would really like to see Trump out on the street picking up refuse. If he can climb into a garbage truck, he could run the street sweeper, too.

So, he's already insulted Mayor Bowser in his post, then he has to shoot the broadside with an executive order. The poor city.

The executive order wants to make the city safe from crime by involving;

Department of the Interior Department of Transportation Department of Homeland Security Federal Bureau of Investigation United States Marshals Service Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives US Attorney's Office of the District of Columbia US Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland US Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia

This task force may ask for help from the Metropolitan Police Department, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, United States Park Police, Amtrak Police and other local and federal authorities as appropriate.

Sounds like overkill to me.

The beautification process is pretty much what you would expect. But there's this section about restoring monuments, statues, markers and memorials that have been inappropriately removed or changed. In another executive order, that amounted to restoring Confederate statues, monuments, markers, and memorials. It could easily be read into this one.

"... a directive the National Park Service requiring prompt removal and clean up of all homeless or vagrant encampments and graffiti on federal land within the District of Columbia with the National Park Service's jurisdiction..."

The homeless and graffiti. Those are his two biggest bugaboos. With all the money that DOGE is saving, he should be able to find housing for the homeless. If you give people a place where you say it's okay to do tag art and graffiti, you'll find that they won't do it elsewhere.

Mayor Bowser ordered the removal of the Black Lives Matter memorial, which was two blocks from the White House, at the beginning of March.

​The idea was to eliminate further encroachment by Trump or Congress, by taking action first, on how Washington, D.C. is run. But, obviously that was not enough.

Trump wants to remake Washington, D.C. in his own image.

He probably thinks like Hitler did of remaking Berlin into Germania. He almost got it. Designed by Albert Speer, it was to be Hitler's shining example to the world of Germany's supremacy.

Trump thinks he can wave a magic wand and turn Washington, D.C. into a sanitized version of itself. The easiest way it to make services like garbage removal work, but Trump is too heavy to pick up.

This task force to eliminate crime is way beyond what could ever be needed. You want the FBI to go after shoplifters?

Mayor Bowser never had a chance to respond. Trump made the Truth Social post then followed up with the executive order and fact sheet within hours. He had them all ready to go. He was planning on taking away the city from Bowser because she is Black, a woman, and more intelligent than Trump. Any time he runs into a lady like that, he has a conniption fit. Just days ago it was Stacy Abrams in Georgia.

Trump will never get what he wants. He wants Washington to be like Hitler imagined Germania. That shining city on a hill.

The people that live in Washington make the city. If Trump doesn't like it, he can move to Mar-a-Lago and never come back. We'd be so much better off without him.

Trump isn't just a wannabe dictator. He's a wannabe Hitler, and getting closer every day.
