Please let me know your plan for ensuring that US foreign policy and national defense are restored to the normal order of business that has kept our communities, our state, and our nation safe for many decades.
The recklessness of the threats, arrogance and sheer ignorance directed by the President, Vice President, and other officials against Greenland and our allies in NATO is matched only by the unprecedented incompetence of the President’s national security team. Last week’s ham-handed attempts to portray the Signal scandal as a simple slip-up only amounts to more evidence that this Administration is incapable of leading our country and keeping us safe without the guiding hand of Congress, and now a fresh scandal has emerged.
What line does Secretary Hegseth have to cross before you begin working across the aisle with your colleagues in Congress to ensure that he is promptly replaced by an experienced, capable person who understands the full weight of their responsibilities? How do you plan to address Friday’s report in the Wall Street Journal, which credibly alleges that he brought a television news producer – with whom he happens to share a marriage – to sensitive meetings? Does this warrant further investigation by Congress or will you wait and see what further damage the President and his national security team will do to our nation?
