Lukewarm Take: Don't buy or burn Teslas [1]

Elon Musk is a Nazi, and I want nothing to do with with his car company. To drive a Tesla today is like driving a Volkswagen before 1945. Tesla’s stock price has been going down faster than a 737-MAX. If he was serious about saving his company, he would quit doing drugs, get some therapy, step down as CEO, and allow a rational adult to take over Tesla. Oh yeah, and he should also stop being a Nazi.
To be sure, my own efforts to boycott a car company aren’t very meaningful. I don’t make that much money and I’ve never bought a new car. I drive a beat up ‘07 PT Cruiser. I empathize with everyone else in my income bracket: it’s frustrating that a megacorporation has little to fear from a boycott by people who couldn’t buy their product anyway. I also tip my hand to those people of means who resist the temptation to purchase a Duh-Lorean.
But destruction of private property is not a valid form of protest. Teslas are shitty cars, and there is no reason to make them shittier. Republicans love to play the victim, so let them cry over lost sales instead of fires covered by insurance. It would be my guess is that these fires are being set by people who just like fire but want to act like it’s all for a good cause.
