The new US/Ukraine Minerals "Deal" is a document for Ukraine to surrender to the US. [1]

The Telegraph has released parts of the US proposed “Minerals Deal” between it and Ukraine. The previous incarnation we knew of, leaked just before the Oval Office ambush of Zelensky, was a toothless placeholder of a deal. It was full of language that Ukraine had clearly negotiated into it. That language was perhaps allowed into it in order to get Zelensky to Washington for the ambush. Who knows? (if you were accidentally invited to that signal chat, please give us details).
This deal has the nastiest set of teeth ever put into an agreement between “Allies.” The US has no obligations from it. There is no security guarantees, no guarantees of future weapons, no continued information sharing, no benefit to Ukraine from this “Deal”.
Instead it puts the US in the driver seat to take the first $100B of mineral wealth out of Ukraine. It gives control of related infrastructure to the US, and it forces every governmental institution of Ukraine and many private ones, to submit to DOGE style raids on Ukrainian information. This isn’t a “deal” the is Trump telling Zelensky he has a nice country there and it would be a shame if something happened to it.
The “mineral deal” seeks to put Ukraine into a similar political state as that of Vichy France. Ostensibly a free country, but one which is fully subservient to the conquering state. In the grotesque twist of current affairs it won’t be Russia as the overlord, but the previously freedom supporting United States which is (re)joining the imperialist nations of the world.
This should put to rest any lingering doubts about the direction of US foreign policy. Trump is running the government as a mob boss and will threaten any ally and any Democracy. We may not know what direct military action he may take against other countries, but he clearly has no compunctions about working in tandem with Russia to take advantage of Russia’s military actions against others. Combine this with Putin’s recent statements indicating approval of the US taking Greenland, and you have to be willfully blind and ignorant to not reach the conclusion that the US is now a Russian ally in action, if not in stated policy (yet).
Thankfully the Ukrainians are in a better position to resist Trump than the American people are. With backing from Europe, Ukraine can say no to this deal. Unfortunately that is probably the plan and the Trump administration will use the refusal of the deal for whatever the next betrayal of Ukraine that they have planned next.
Ukraine, I personally support you in refusing this deal. America, we can’t afford waiting 4 years to remove Trump. We’re not even 100 days into the administration and we are coercing other nations to give up their sovereignty to us. Things will not get better until we all act.
