One beautiful sign of HOPE in the War on America being waged from the White House [1]

Despite the ongoing insanity (an all-out War on America waged by an ugly domestic terrorist from his lair in the White House), I still have moments of feeling … hopeful.
How is this possible when it feels like America’s heart and guts are being ripped out by our very own president and his wrecking crew of half-baked henchmen?
The answer: ART !!!
My riverfront home in southern Maine is two miles up the road from a powerfully evocative installation at the Kittery Information Center off Interstate-95 North.
This colorful illuminated sign — projecting the word “Hopeful” for all to see, and feel — buoys my shell-shocked soul each time I drive by.
Created by Maine artist Charlie Hewitt, it features a “retro design influenced by signs for roadside attractions recalling an earlier era” (Ogunquit Museum of Art). It is part of an exhibit called The Hopeful Project that since 2019 has spread across seven states at dozens of different sites.
I feel blessed that “my” Hopeful sign is so close to home — standing tall. And I hope seeing it here might make you feel a bit more hopeful too.
