The New Poll Tax on Women [1]

The Felon In Chief’s executive order, and the “SAVE” Act currently before the house, basically institute a poll tax on women. That is, if the one holds up, and the other passes.
I am not taking any chances.
Of the three names on my current state issued photo ID, only one of them appears on my birth certificate. This means that, according to Orange Idi Amin’s order, and the provisions of the SAVE act, I would be unable to register to vote. According to both of those egregious steaming piles of feces, you cannot register to vote unless the name on your state issued photo ID exactly matches your birth certificate. Which means most women.
This is specifically designed to disenfranchise women.
So, today I went to my local courthouse to start proceedings to change my name to the name I’ve been using for 36 years. Filing with the court cost me $435. Then, I will have to pay $100 to a local newspaper to publish the name change for four weeks. And then, I will have to pay $40.50 for each copy of the judges order. I will also have to take time off from work to go to court and explain to the judge that my name is my name.
Therefore, retaining my right to vote will cost me $575.50. If that’s not a poll tax, I don’t know what is.
One saving grace, the nice man at the county court house told me that, if I were very low income, or fixed income, the $435 would be waived. I don’t qualify, but I’m sure lots of other people will.
Even with the court fee waived, it would cost $140.50. Again, if that’s not a poll tax, I don’t know what is.
Sisters, let me recommend that you start this process NOW, because the courts will soon be flooded with name change requests.
