Boycotts against Musk are working, but Trump is causing them against America [1]

The boycotts against Musk and Tesla are happening worldwide. Trump's tariff policies, specifically, are generating boycotts of American products abroad. There are also boycotts in America against companies that have bowed down to Trump's anti-DEI policies or simply supporting his agenda.
The Guardian commissioned a poll that said 20% of Americans favor boycotts of companies towing Trump's line. It's more than just Tesla, Amazon, Walmart and Target.
"Companies and consumers are playing a high stakes game of chicken --- corporations bidding on convenience winning out over conviction, while consumers weild their spending power like a weapon," said Libby Rodney of the Harris Poll, who conducted the poll for the Guardian.
Rev. Jamal Bryant, a pastor in Baltimore, asked his flock to give up buying at Target for Lent (March 5 - April 17). "These rollbacks represent more than just corporate decisions; they reflect a deeper erosion of the Morrow and ethical commitment necessary to build a just society."
The Reverend created a website called TARGETFAST.ORG that features a multiple chevron listing called Black Wall Street Ticker, that has the companies to boycott. But it also lists buycotts, companies that are standing up to Trump and his agenda that should be supported with their buying dollars.
This has worked for Black people before.
It has a long history. There are so many companies on The Reverend's list had companies I hadn't heard about capitulating to Trump, or for other reasons.
Trump inspired boycotts against companies in his first term for various reasons, mainly racism. They included Equinox/Soulcycle, Nordstrom, Under Armor, Home Depot and In-N-Out Burger.
Canadians are doing more than just taking American alcohol off the shelves, they're canceling vacations to the United States. First, they don't want to be attacked by MAGA idiots, but they also don't want to support a country with a president who is out to destroy them and is doing his best to wreak havoc on their economy. One grocery chain is using a "T" to denote American made products that are more expensive because of Canadian retaliatory tariffs that were imposed.
Swiss chocolate maker Lindt will sell European made chocolate in Canada to avoid tariffs and prevent a backlash that could occur from the US made version.
Europe is taking notice also. Here's the heading on a Swedish chat group boycotting American products and services:
Danish grocery stores have started putting stars on product signage to identify local products.
Bo Albertus, administrator of a Danish Facebook group dedicated to boycotting American goods has 90,000 members. "I felt a sense of powerlessness. We all feel that we are doing something. We are acting on our frustration."
A French group recommends European laundry detergents and debates whether scotch and cognac are better than bourbon.
There are debates, however, as to what constitutes an American product. Such as Coca-Cola made and bottled in Europe or Ben & Jerry's ice cream made there. Some have made it perfectly clear that their movement is not against the American people, it's specifically against Trump.
Here's one I didn't see coming as part of a boycott. A Norwegian company named Haltbakk Bunkers says it will stop supplying US military vessels with fuel. The decision was made by the company after "the biggest shitshow ever presented 'live on TV' by the current American president and his vice president," the company said in a statement after the Oval Office meeting with Zelensky." The statement concluded with "Slavi Ukrani!" (Glory to Ukraine!)
Germany's government, however, is calling for no boycott of American goods even with the dispute over tariffs. They don't want to start a trade war, but Trump already has.
Boycotts against Tesla and protests against Tesla and Musk have not stopped in Europe. Those are ongoing.
The last reported damage in that direction was reported in Belfast, Ireland on March 17th, with 20 vehicles at a showroom had tweaked side mirrors, body dents and scratches as well as broken windows.
Sales are down for 45% in Europe for Tesla, and there was that survey of 100,000 people in Germany that said 94% of them would never buy a Tesla.
People in the United States will start boycotting American products and services in increasing numbers. The demonstrations against Musk and Trump will only increase in frequency and size.
Boycotts of products and services made in America will be gaining steam as more companies are exposed for their cowardice.
Trump may have stolen the US Treasury, but he doesn't own us. He can't tell us who to buy from, even with his commercials in front of the White House.
Trump and Bondi and Patel can whine all they want about "illegal boycotts." There's no such thing. I'm still waiting for my check from George Soros for participating.
Europeans and Canadians are thinking about how they do it in their own countries carefully.
To them I say:
Merci, Danke, Gracias, Grazie, Dankon, Go Raibh Maith Agot (Irish).
