I’m a Democrat. (that’s me at about 9 years old on the left and my mother on the right and Yosemite Valley in the background). I was born in 1951 to the San Francisco bubble and in the Haight-Ashbury district. (Those from SF will ask, so I will say upfront: Grattan, Hoover, Polytechnic). You can imagine how my childhood went; I was in the thick of it. I travelled internationally a lot and moved to various (mostly Western US) places as a young adult (because even then you couldn’t launch in SF unless you were wealthy) . Now I find myself at 74 being tired and unable to process what is happening here. I wish I could project myself from this date to 50 years from now so I know how it all turned out, but I’m just not sure America is capable of pulling a rabbit out of the hat, Again. It is so distressing to see the day-to-day shenanigans. I’m a turtle pulling into my shell. So the purpose of the diary……
Please get out there and make it happen! I just cannot find the bandwidth to help, but I’m hopeful that the rest of you will fight for what’s right. We are a miracle nation (yes, I believe this), and what was true during the “glory years” is still true now. It’s within our heart: yours and mine. Just please keep up fight and get us back on track.
